VISION

“Parivartan envisions an order with equal opportunities to assure well being of marginalized communities”

MISSION

“Parivartan’s strives to foster processes for facilitating extensive and equitable access to knowledge and skills for prosperity of the poor and vulnerable”

The mission statement is guided by the belief that design and development of state-of-art knowledge ware products alone is not enough to bring about change in the life of people living on the margins of society. Parivartan works on the principle that ‘development’ is a function of both ‘growth’ and ‘equity’. Thus, strong but inequitable growth does not necessarily contribute towards development. What holds equal, if not more importance is that knowledge-based services reach the poorest and most vulnerable communities. This in Parivartan’s philosophy is quintessential for expediting the developmental change process.

In order to reach out to a large number of people needing both information and skills, Parivartan works with a two-pronged strategy. Fostering partnerships with agencies involved in knowledge building and demystification is one of these while the other key strategy is to design and innovate cost-effective and user-friendly capacity enhancement tools to take this knowledge to the intended audience.

Our activities at present include trainings coupled with manuals and handbooks and communication tools such as interactive learning programmes, documentaries and short films. Parivartan also dovetails these with provision of handholding and mentoring support to civil society groups and other development oriented institutions to enhancing their capacities in different components of project management. Over time, Parivartan also intends to document learnings form direct experiences to add to the existing knowledge pool as well as to flag significant issues for advocacy.

Parivartan, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 was initiated as a community level initiative in Uttar Pradesh. During the last decade Parivartan has primarily operated at the district level and has represented the concerns of marginal farmers and the landless. In the last couple of years the initiative has got an interface in form of development professionals drawn from different domains of implementation and research. The team brings in professional and intellectual synergy to the process of developing innovative products and disseminating the know-how through various initiatives.
